Meet at the Greenham Control Tower: Opens at 10am. https://www.greenhamtower.org.uk Please note. There is a HEIGHT RESTRICTION at the entrance to the car park – I will ask if it can be open for the day, but this may not be possible. There is space before it to stop and unload if necessary. Will leave at about 10:45, so enough time for a quick look around if you want to. Outside, on the runway side of the tower is a memorial and I believe the upper floor will be open, with views over the Common and beyond. Lunch at The Vine, Hannington. www.thevineathannington.co.uk aiming to arrive 1.00-1.30pm. Please could I have menu choices and confirmation of those wishing to join us on the ride or at the pub by Wednesday 13th. Route attached GPX file. If we are running late we can cut between Ibworth to Hannington. For those who are not ‘assisted’, there are a few challenges along the way… A short, sharp climb before Ibworth (after crossing the A339, care needed!), after lunch Plantation Hill will get the lungs working but views from the top are a fair reward, and finally, after crossing the Headley Ford, another short, sharp climb back up onto the Common.

PS Height Restriction is open during the day, so rooftop tandems will be ok.

They will close at 4.30pm but the cafe will close at 4.00pm We will have a mainly flat route with a couple of short hills, there is intended to be a short part on a Bridleway but this depends on the weather the days before the ride as to the state of the paths. Liz & Guy's August ride

This month’s ride will take place on Saturday 16th August, starting at 10:30 sharp opposite Lyall’s Café in the Market Place, Eynsham (5 miles west of Oxford). Lunch will be at The White Horse, a community-owned pub in the lovely village of Stonesfield (https://www.thewhitehorsestonesfield.com). There is a free car park in Back Lane, Eynsham: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rgYfYaqLVYU2TRZ98?g_st=ipc Technical issues mean that we can’t send you the route until Tuesday at the earliest, but we expect that it will loop around Wychwood Forest and pass through Charlbury en route to Stonesfield. The total distance should be 30-32 miles and there are likely to be a few short and sharp hills. The pub has asked for numbers and menu choices a week in advance, so please can you peruse the attached lunch menu (also available at https://www.thewhitehorsestonesfield.com/menus) and send your selection to liz.masterman@gmail.com by Friday evening, 8th August? Thank you! Best wishes, Liz & Guy https://www.thewhitehorsestonesfield.com/_files/ugd/6929a1_b080d3a1cdfb46ce8da8ff3c715e17b0.pdf

The detials from Phil & Julie for their ride on Saturday 22nd August. Please also read to the end as there is also the opportunity to buy a ladies TC cycle jersey  Phil & Julie: We fancied taking you to another of our favourite rides this August, along the fabulous Test Valley from St. Mary Bourne to Wherwell, Chilbolton and Longparish. This stretch of the Bourne Rivulet / Test Valley is breathtaking with chocolate box cottages all along the route.  We get to cross the chalk bed River Test several times.  It still had plenty of water when we visited on Wednesday 12th August. Meet at St Mary Bourne Community Shop and Café (SP11 6BE, entrance opposite The George Inn, over the bridge) at 9:30am.  There is a large free car park.  We suggest you park in the NE corner.  If you are driving from the north, the A343 south of Newbury is a beautiful and exhilarating drive to Hurstbourne Tarrant, where you turn east towards St Mary Bourne. Lunch is at The Plough Inn, Longparish (SP11 6PB) at 1pm.  The menu is attached.   Total distance is 22.5 miles, and the lunch stop is after 17 miles.  There are plenty of sections of tree canopies, so a rear light is advisable.  We will depart from the community café at 10:30am. The café would like to know numbers (so they can ensure sufficient staff) and I need to let the pub know numbers and menu choices, so please let Phil and Julie know at the latest by Tuesday 18th August. Please email philipharmer2@gmail.com or telephone 07767 600 943. Kind regards, Phil.  (NB a note from Pauline - I purposely haven't added route files as this often stops the email being recevied by the recipient. If you are going and would like the route, please let Phil know)   ** FOR SALE

New - LADIES fit, full zip, short sleeve XL jersey. Cost £45, selling for £30 plus postage which is expected to be around £3 - please contact Chris Jones +44 (0) 7534 181867 if you are interested
