Lancashire & Cumbria: A Ride in the Forest of Bowland
Sunday 10 August 2025 to Sunday 10 August 2025. Starting from Clitheroe BB7 3LA at 09:15 for 09:30. 35 miles Average.

Start : Edisford Road car park, Clitheroe BB7 3LA.

We start from the car park, heading towards Bashall Eaves and then circle east, through Waddington, West Bradford and Grindleton, skirting Sawley and to our coffee stop at Holden Clough Nurseries (after 12 miles). Suitably refreshed, we then have a 3 mile climb along Holden Lane towards Slaidburn. We don't actually go into Slaidburn, keeping south of the Hodder, crossing the river at Newton. WE continue west to Dunsop Bridge for our lunch stop (picnic area/cafe/public toilets) after 22 miles.  Then it's a hop, skip and a climb or two, as we head south, keeping to the west, and then south of the Hodder, back to Clitheroe (34 miles, 2800 ft ascent).
