Tandem hire in SW France

Kevin Riley2012-10-23 14:58:46

My wife and I are visiting Condom, a village in SW France midway between Toulouse and Bordeaux in November. We are flying down so cannot take our tandem but are keen to hire a tandem whilst we are down there.

Does anyone have information on where we might source a tandem for hire in that part of France.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

I'm fairly sure that the people at French Oasis Holidays at Eymet have a tandem for hire, but it is some distance from Condom.

Tandems in France are like the proverbial rocking horse poo :-)

I managed to find one in Toulouse, but thats 145km away each way

There is a deposit required of €450 and 50% of that is required with your reservation!

I've lived in Central France now for 2 years plus and have rarely seen another tandem other than our own - I was quite surprised to see that one for hire.

I've managed to find a couple more in Aquitaine, but they are both on the coast.

An opportunity to try single bikes again?

Regards

Alex

We saw 8 Tandem passed last week through our village. One going around the world.

Were they French or 'etranger'?

Both French and other nationals .
This area we are in is great for all cycling and is a route from Swiss Alps to the French coast.

Forgot to mention, depending on how much time you have left - there is a Tandem Club de France (website below) - the website is a bit sparse :-) but you could send a message to the president to see if he could help. (If your language skills are not up to writing in French use google translate and send the message in both languages)
