Hendaye to Bilbao

Just wondering whether anyone has followed on from the end of the La Velodyssee route from Hendaye(France) through to Bilbao(Spain) Ferry to return to Portsmouth and created a route that avoids the busy coastline roads - seeking wise advice ahead of looking to ride from Ouistreham to Bilbao next year.
