urgent brake repairs near Dartmouth

Dmitrii Pasechnik2023-08-09 11:46:20

Hi, our longish trip through Cornwall-Devon brought us close to Dartmouth, and the hills almost killed our brake pads (already well-worn, ~10.000km) on our Circe tandem's disk brakes. Oops...

The immediate neighbourhood appears to have no bicycle shops - could anyone recommend anything like, maybe, a mobile repairman who can come and replace pads?

It's SRAM Avid BB7 mtb brakes.

Hi Dimitri

They are not actually in Dartmouth, but these people might be able to help:

Good luck!

Not sure of your exact distance from Dartmouth, if nothing in Dartmouth, there is a repair hub in Totnes, you should be able to get there on the steam train from Dartmouth.

it would be something of a pleasant trip. The hub shuts at 5..00 sp probably too late today.

Hope this helps, safe travels.

Also found a place in Dartmouth, visit dartmouthbikes.com.

they are a rental and repair place, probably closed now but might be worth a call.

OK, thanks, I should be able to cycle by myself, on an unloaded bike, either to Paignton or to Totnes.

dartmouthbikes.com is across the pond, in Hanover, New Hampshire.

The steam train goes from Dartmouth (Kingswear, to be precise, from across the river) to Paignton, not to Totnes. Not sure they take bicycles, either.

How stupid of me to refer you to a USA  bike shop website, sorry.

However it might inspire your next trip.

Good Luck
