Tent for cycle camping

Ian Houghton2023-03-09 21:17:36

Our 18 year old, much loved tent has finally given up and is beyond repair. It is a Hilleberg Nallo 2GT which will cost over £1,000 to replace!! So is Hilleberg still the way to go or are there other options?

Our ideal tent sleeps 2, has a decent sized porch for luggage and cooking when raining , 3+ seasons, fits on the rear rack for transport and weighs as little as possible.

Thanks

What about the Vango F10 Xenon UL2 Plus tent https://www.vango.co.uk/gb/camping-equipment/3064-f10-xenon-ul-2-plus.html

I have the version without the extended porch and I am very happy with it.

We have a Huba Huba NX. This has a roomy porch on both sides which means you can get up in the night without disturbing the other person. It is very light and has served us well since 2019 when we did a 6 week trip to NZ. We have done many trips since. We see a lot of them on our travels and everyone we met raves about them. Hi Ian

We have a Nallo 2GT we no longer use, including the footprint groundsheet. We haven't used it for a number of years but as far as I remember it's in good condition.

We're in Sutton Coldfield if you'd like to look at it in person or I could try and put it up and take some pictures once the snow has all cleared up...

Hi,

If Ian's not a taker on the tent, we might be. How much would you be asking for it?

I'll have to check it over to make sure it's still ok, it's been stored indoors so should be fine but if it all checks out with the footprint we'd accept £450.

Thanks everyone. We have trialled a Vango before and found the pockets for the tent poles a bit skimpy which made pitching take a bit longer. Not a huge issue but if you are moving on every day or pitching in the rain we decided it would get annoying. The Hubba Hubba looks very stable and light but my partner has dismissed it. She needs more space to galumph around in (her words).

Andy - if you can supply some photos and an idea of age/usage that would be great.

Sorry for the delay in responding, the garden finally dried up enough to put the tent up for pictures - cat not included! 🤗
Hopefully you can see everything ok but feel free to ask any questions.
