Claud Butler Short Base BB Repair?

Andy Palmer2018-05-02 21:15:16

Hello,

We've a bodged 1956 CB short base frame that I'd like to properly fix.

The rear bottom bracket has had the threads filed by a previous owner to allow a Bailey Wyliss(?) sleeved bracket to be bodged in. It fits poorly and is a 68mm unit just catching a thread of the lock ring in the 73mm CB shell - not ideal.

So, the original threads in the BB shell are visible, but won't catch the standard cups (I have a complete correct rear BB  to fit). It's the standard Claud tandem size of 1.42"x26tpi I believe.

Does any one know a good frame man/company who could repair the BB threads back to standard please?

many thanks,

Andy
