Austrian - Tauren Rail Tunnel

Has anyone taken their tandem on the train through the Tauren Tunnel Bockstein to Mallnitz? Just organing a ride from Salzburg to Lake Bled and whislt the train takes bikes does it take tandems?? Thanks Ian

Yes we took our tandem on the train through the tunnel in October this year. We were directed to the end carriage that had only fold down seats so loads of room for the tandem. There were a couple of steps up from the platform but not too much of a problem. Since it was end of season it was very quiet and we had the whole carriage to ourselves. It may be different in high season. Bonus was the prices are per bike not per person! We have actually written an article for the journal describing our trip from Salzburg to Grado (on the Adriatic coast) including the trip on the train
