For Sale: Thorn Raven Twin Tandem – Rohloff, S&S Couplers, Electric Assist – Low Mileage

Thorn Raven Twin tandem (2011), size 8A M/S+,  good condition with low mileage. A high-quality touring tandem built for durability, comfort and long-distance capability.

Key features:

• Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 (14-speed internal gear hub) – smooth, low-maintenance and extremely reliable, oil regularly changed
• S&S couplers – frame splits for travel/packing
• Front hub electric assist system professionally supplied and fitted by Kinetics (Glasgow), specialists in Rohloff and custom bike builds
• CSS rims with Shimano Deore M590 V brakes with Swisstop blue pads
• Low mileage – probably no more than 3,000 altogether. Still on the original Shwalbe Marathon XR tyres showing little wear. Not used for the last 2.5 years since we bought a Circe Helios for lower stepover (riders getting older)

Electric assist:
The Heinzmann front hub motor system was installed in or around 2018 by Kinetics, a well  regarded UK specialist known for high-quality Rohloff integrations and custom builds. The setup is neatly done. The cables have connectors where the frame splits. 36V/ 9.0 Ah Battery still in excellent condition, has not had that many recharges. Operated by twist grip from the front handle bars

Condition:
Good overall condition. Mechanically sound and ready to ride. Quite a few light scratches to the paintwork from the days when it used to be carried on a rack on the back of the car alongside the children’s bikes. Saddles and pedals are fairly basic. Front handlebars have been raised, and rear handlebars are Dutch style - suiting current owners’ penchant for upright riding positions, but  these things can readily be altered by the purchasers to meet their own requirements

You don’t want electric?

If the electric system is not what you want then for an adjusted  price I could sell the bike with the parts necessary to restore it  to its original condition - front wheel with CSS Rim, Schmidt SON 28 dynamo and B & M headlight, lower ratio gears (they were raised when electrifying).
