Hi Stephen, great to hear you Amy and the tandem are sorted. Be interesting to hear what the solution to you problem was. Many other Shimano powered tandems in the Tsndem club might benefit in the future.

Bernard Norton2026-05-31 16:58:55tci2026

Yes please we e-Orbit tandemers need to know what the solution is//was? But we are pleased thou found it!

I'll keep you posted...

June 2026
June 2026

It’s flaming June and holiday season so five members of Taunton Tandem group set off from Gillingham to the airport.

The weather was perfect for cycling, warm but not too warm and no wind.

Clive and Emma’s carefully planned route took them along shady, leafy and quiet lanes and through charming villages. The Bennet Arms at Semley, (a village with an old worldly feel and large green), was just about to open but the ride was going so well no one felt the need of a break. They pressed on, through Donhead St Mary to the longest climb of the route. Unfazed they then continued to Compton Abbas Airfield to lunch at The Lore of the Sky.

While dining on the patio, they were able to watch the small planes taking off, circling and landing. There was even a Tiger Moth. Clive and Emma had managed to arrange an airshow!

After the leisurely lunch the group then set off for home, dropping down to Fontmell Magna and then on through rolling lanes back. There was a pub in East Stour where they could have stopped for a drink but yet again they were happy to press on. Another 5 miles from East Stour brought them back to Gillingham. The whole ride was 28 very enjoyable miles.

Hog Roast - Thankyou for the updates. One from this end. I have upgraded it a little, so it now includes a green leaf salad with French Dressing and Coleslaw. In addition a pesto pasta sald. The hog roast has pork stuffing and cracking served in a soft white bap. The vegetarian is a vegetarian burger with lettuce, tomatoes and onions with ketchup and mustard. Please can everyone bring there own plate and cutlery please as trying to reduce waste. If anyone else is tempted let me know and I'll add you to the numbers.

Hi, re hog roast, we've signed up to that, but one of us is gluten intolerant, and I see stuffing is included.

Hog Roast? That sounds good, we haven't seen the details for that?

Neil Wheadon2026-06-28 20:27:26tcn2026

I am away in Mongolia, for 2 weeks from Monday. It’s an area of no WIFI/signal, so I cannot respond to any queries. Best Wishes Neil

joanne saunders2026-06-30 06:47:13Herts

We are planning to join the rally for a few days first time experience but hear good things from the Herts group. We will sign up for the friday night hog roast also Neil did we need to email independently to confirm?

John Pound2026-07-11 19:24:49tcn2026

Hi I am gluten and dairy intolerant so find it hard to get cake will there be options that i can choose from?

Jason Clark2026-07-15 11:58:10tcn2026

Hi Neil .     Hope you had a good trip in Mongolia. We now have our new A class 7.2 meter van back and have tried it out with the 6 of us in it and have decided for the rally week it would be best if Mathew brought his small 3 person cycle camping tent to pitch up next to our van . They will also need to bring a bmax car as the a class only has 5 traveling seats. Have you finalised the numbers for the up to 12 families that you were hoping to encourage as would be really good if our party could be integrated with them as Adda is 5 and Myra is 3. We plan to bring one standard tandem ,one Kiddy back with child seat , one standard tandem with kid cranks ,a single ,a double child trailer and one or 2 solos . . We could also bring a trailer bike for other families children to use if you think worth while. Matthew noted that rallygoers needed to be members of the tandem club unless were part of the 12 families as yet He and Lydia are not members but would join if necessary I hope this can all be accommodated and with the 2 young children if electric were available would be a bonus. Please could you let us know if any additional payments are needed and how to make them Hoping that weather holds out ! . Kind regards. Neil Wheadon2026-07-15 16:49:45tcn2026

Brilliant We have about 8 families coming I think. Not the 12 I was hoping for but really encouraging Please book in on the website and I’ll have a look when I get home. There is plenty of space, so you are most welcome. Any problems, I’ll iron them out Neil (still in Mongolia)

Jason Clark2026-07-15 19:29:43tcn2026

Hi Neil , thanks for getting back to us , I have already booked for the 6 of us on the website but at that point did not book in the family section so perhaps you could move our booking to that section and add an extra tent. Many thanks Jason .

Ian Hewitt2026-07-17 18:10:57tcn2026

Neil, Are we going to be able to get the runs list for the rally THIS COMING WEEK ? We expect to be away the week preceding the rally(at CTC New Forest WEEK so will need to print off our routes next week. Thanks Ian &Jill H

Neil Wheadon2026-07-17 22:26:06tcn2026

I would really appreciate it, if folks could stop asking for the route sheets and GPX files on this medium, Facebook and by personal email. Life is busy, I have just returned from 2 weeks in Mongolia as stated and have a busy life, not just involving the Tandem Club. Please be patient, I could be utilising the time finalising things rather than responding to these messages.
