This is a Tandem Club regional group.
Due to a poor weather forecast the decision has been made to cancel the ride out from Market Drayton on Sunday 12th August.
Please note the date for the August group ride has changed from the 11th to Sunday 4th of August due to a clash of dates
Due to road closures in Stafford on 15th September the ride will now start from Market Drayton. Full details in the whats on section.
It is with regret due to COVID 19 we have taken the decision to suspend the monthly gathering until further notice. Hope we can meet up again before too long.
For the September ride 7 tandems departed Audlem in the sunshine for a 31 mile ride. We had to change our lunch arrangements late on Saturday afternoon due to the original stop cancelling our booking due to the lack of chef, but the Olde Jack Inn in Calverhall rescued the day, managing to fit all 14 of us in for a lovely lunch at very short notice. It was good to see some of our newer riders and welcome back some old friends and we also wish Ian and Phil a swift recovery from the man flu which prevented them and their partners from joining us on the ride.
For October's ride, 4 tandems set off from Wem on a 28 mile circular route with lunch at Moor Farm, Baschurch. It should have been 5 tandems but Ian and Carolyn succumbed to a nasty cold the day before. The weather did not look promising when we woke up to heavy rain but for once the forecast was correct and it had cleared up by the time we set out for Wem and we even saw some sunshine during the ride.
The first Shropshire & Staffordshire Group ride since the Covid outbreak was successfully held in July. 5 tandems took part including Phil and Sue who joined us for the first time. Their Hase Pino with electric assist was much admired, especially when we managed to find a hill or two in the otherwise flat Cheshire countryside. Despite the cool wind, we all enjoyed our picnic at Beeston castle whilst maintaining social distancing and also found time for an ice cream on the return journey at Overwater Marina. It was lovely to meet up with everyone again and swap lockdown stories.
