The bike was originally fitted with 52/42/30 chainset, but replaced with a 48/38/24 to make climbing hills easier but still retain a decent top gear. This necessitated replacement of front derailleur index gear shifter with a thumb shifter which can take a bit of practice to achieve a positive gear shift. The original index shifter and chain rings (quite worn) are available. Rear derailleur Shimano Alivio 8 speed index shifter is still in place.

Our tandem, affectionally known as Hamish, has provided many happy hours of tandeming and is still in good condition with a few minor scuffs gained over the years. Selling as age has required us to move to e-bikes.
