BCQ Module

Users

The website supports the British Cycle Quest (BCQ) challenge. It has a database of all of the BCQ questions and their locations and will show these on any of the Ride systems maps as Places with the category "misc/bcq". This allows you to see these Places of interest when you are looking at a TC ride, just researching a route or finding out if any are near you when using the navigation function.

The system also allows you to mark off the BCQ's you have already done, holding a database of those you have done against your website account. The BCQ's already done are shown in a Gold colour rather than in Green.

Currently to can Marke BCQ's as done using the BCQ List interface.

Admin

The Websys BCQ module provides access to a BCQ questions database. It provides the following functions:

  • Keeps a database of all BCQ questions with their location and other information.
  • Allows this database to be set from a standard BCQ XLSX spreadsheet upload.
  • Provides the ability to download the database in a format close to the standard BCQ XLSX one.
  • Allows all of the Rides system "misc/bcq" places to be added from this BCQ database.
  • Allows the BCQ questions to be edited on-line.

Only those users with the adminBcq role can manage the system. Once a user with the adminBcq role is added they can enable the left hand admin menu and there will be the following functions available:

  • Edit info page: Allows the BCQ information page to be edited.
  • Edit BCQ questions: Edit the BCQ questions in the database.
  • Add BCQ question: Add a new BCQ question
  • Upload Spreadsheet: Upload a standard BCQ spreadsheet. This will delete the current BCQ database and add all of the entries from the spreadsheet. In the future it might just update the entries base on the question numbers.
  • Download Spreadsheet: Creates a bcq_list.xlsx spreadsheet based on the BCQ database.
  • Update Places: Updates all of the Places in the "misc.bcq" category to match the BCQ database entries.
  • Configuration: Configuration parameters
  • Statistics: System statistics

Future Possibilities

  • The system could upload to Google maps directly.
  • This system could manage individual users BCQ's visited. The system would then show the user which BCQ's they had visited as a list or on the map perhaps showing all BCQ's and the ones they have visited in another colour.
  • Could manage the answer uploads and marking of these automatically setting the users BCQ's as answered correctly or not.
