Tandem 2018 - UK National Rally

Saturday 26th. May - Saturday 2nd June 2018

De Aston School
Willingham Road,Market Rasen
Lincolnshire LN8 3RF

Progress is being made organising next year's National rally on Market Rasen. The format will be similar to the event held there in 2008. Again; it will be at The De Aston School using their facilities for showers and toilets and its large sports field for camping and caravanning with electrical supplies available for those requiring it.
Unfortunately the dormitories will not be available as they are being refurbished but hopefully the school dining room will be serving meals for those who want them, this is being discussed at present.
The routes will travel in all directions from Market Rasen and cover the surrounding countryside, some flat and some not so flat. There will be 5 days of rides and distances as usual will be around 25-30, 45-50 and 60-70 miles.

The 2018 National Rally will be held at De Aston School  in Market Rasen, a small market town on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. With a mention in the Domesday Book of 1086, Market Rasen has had a market since the 1300s. It has the distinction of having the only racecourse in Lincolnshire and is on National Cycle Route 1. Nearby is Middle Rasen and West Rasen, the latter having a 3-arched packhorse bridge dating back to the 14th century.  The village of Tealby, near Market Rasen is often described as 'the prettiest village in Lincolnshire'.  The Oldest Thatched Pub in Lincolnshire, The King's Head, was built in 1367.
This time, there is only camping accommodation which will be on the sports field.  Showers and toilets are within the school, apart from overnight when portaloos will be provided around the campsite.  Electric hook-ups will be available, but only on a weekly basis as all the equipment will have to be hired.  You will require RCD protection in your vans and motorhomes, which are now normally installed.
Planning for evening events is at an early stage, but as a minimum there will be: welcome drinks, quiz night, tandem games, bring and buy sale, a bar in the marquee each evening and a barn dance on the last night.  More ideas are welcome - please let us know and we will try to organise them.
Booking
Please use the on-line booking system on the club's website which is the club's preferred method of booking. This will be availablein a few days.  If you do not have internet access, there is a form in the January 2018 journal.   Bookings close on 15th  May 2018.
Rides
There will be 5 days of cycling and a rest day with routes between 20-30 miles, 40-50 miles and some over 60 miles.  There is some lovely countryside to explore.
