The venue for the rally is the rally field at Thornton Hall Country Park, a farm visitor attraction aimed at young children. The farm is just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at Thornton-In-Craven between Barnoldswick and Skipton.
Thornton Hall Country Park, Thornton-in-Craven, near Skipton North Yorkshire, BD23 3TS.
The base for the event is a large rally field in front of the farm that is reasonably flat and well drained. We have hired a marquee and shower units for the week, but the number of electrical hook-ups is limited and we ask that you only book one if you really need it. We are, however, trying to ensure that there will be the facility to charge bike batteries.
A full range of activities is planned for the rally including:
On the Sunday evening you can meet the team from JD Tandems and a talk from Lands End to John O'Groats tandem record holder Dom Irvine. JD Tandems will also be on-site each day to help out with any mechanical issues.
Velocio trophy (a treasure hunt style ride)
Barn Dance on the final night with optional hot pot supper.
We're still looking into some other possible events for the evenings.
There is no organised coach trip for the Wednesday but there are plenty of options for a day out from local castles to preserved railways to a day trip on the Leeds Liverpool canal or a walk in the Dales. The site is close to a bus stop for buses to Skipton or Clitheroe.
The rides provide a real variety of scenery ranging from the industrial heritage of the Leeds - Liverpool canal to Elizabethan Halls, quaint villages and the spectacular Yorkshire Dales with the potential to see such icons as the Ribblehead viaduct and Malham Cove along the way. The rides vary in length from 22 miles to 64 miles with many options in between.
Details will appear here when completed.
No meals will be available, but there is a small cafe on site. There is an option to order a Hot Pot supper and dessert for the Friday evening.
