On a very sunny September morning 6 Tandems and 2 solos met at Tiverton Canal Basin. We set off past Blundells and out of the town onto country lanes, heading through a number of villages. We followed sustrans route 3 over the railway line at Tiverton Parkway and then over the M5. We cycled through Willand Old Village and onto the pretty village of Kentisbeare via Croyle. After dropping down into Cullompton we stopped at Steamers for coffee which we enjoyed outside in the sunshine.
We then made our way through Brithem Bottom, past the Mill Pond at Halberton. The pond is fed by warm springs and never freezes, not that there was any danger of that in the unseasonably warm weather. On then to Sampford Peverell where we stopped at The Globe pub for lunch. After lunch it was just a short ride back to Tiverton Canal Basin .
