First Great Western HSTs - Good news

The First Great Western leaflet "Cycling by Train" for the new timetable
period starting 9th of December is now on their website.
To our great relief it does specifically say that tandems will be carried and gives really clear instructions about when the new cycle hooks in the leading power car have to be used instead of the main cycle racks in carriage A.
Some months ago we were told by a train manager that the new cycle carriage arrangements (all to do with short platforms and selective door locking) would mean no tandems allowed. It looks to me like there may have been Tandem Club specialist input here (the instructions about taking off the front wheel to use the hook). Dave Holliday of the CTC has also been liasing with FGW on potential problems of the new arrangement for solos and tandems. Thanks to all concerned both on the cyclists side and the staff at First Great Western who have worked out a way to keep us on board rather than take the easy way out.
The leaflet is a pdf file and is linked from this page:
