Coventry Eagle Convertible Tandem

We have recently purchased a very interesting 1951/52 Coventry Eagle Convertible Tandem (lady-back). It consists of three separate sections which can be bolted together to create a tandem. Alternately, the middle section can be removed and the front and back sections can be bolted together to make a nice solo gent's cycle. It also has lovely cranks with eagle designs cut into them.
Has anyone seen one of these before? Can you point me in direction of any further information about the Coventry Eagle Cycle Company, and in particular, this unusual bicycle?
