: We have a pashley touring tandem which we bought 2nd hand and are wondering
: if anyone else out there has one and if so what do they think of it and do
: they have any problems?

I am the proud (I hope) owner of a Pashley D type tandem which I am getting round to rebuilding. I shall start with a quick rebuild to get everything working and learn the techniques of tandeming with my daughter and if she takes to riding stoker behind Dad (a 15 year old may not see this as cool), then I will do a complete rebuild with any changes to original that I see as beneficial. The tandem was uncared for when it came into my posession but is complete and not too rusty. Pashley black will be changed to Navy blue. I have contacted Pashley who can only provide a set of current decals at 9.95 and all other interests in tandems has evaporated, so I guess these will have to do.

I also was contemplating changing to GreenTyres but now that I have read the threads, I dont think I will. Saddles have been obtained from scrap bikes that will do for now but in the long term I will change to gel with Kalloy posts. Untill I see how it rides, I will leave the 6 speed gearing alone. There does not appear to be any damage from using incorrect tools to adjust the eccentric or bottom bracket so stripping should not be a problem.

I will at some future date add to the thread when I have progressed a bit. By the way Jacks bike shop in Orpington High Street seems a useful source of material
