Looks Over Durability

Just a bit of a rant really.

During a recent holiday tandeming around Norfolk, not to put too fine a point on it,we fell off,no-one to blame but myself.Nothing hurt except pride, but why oh why do brake/gear lever manufacturers ( in our case Shimano ) insist on producing very fine and fancy looking levers which are usually the first to hit the ground in a fall and are rendered scratched and generally looking a mess.It is the same if a brake lever or housing touches a wall for instance when leaning the bike up against it.......scratched.As these items are in a vulnerable place you would imagine that some kind of protection could be applied to at least handle the knocks of everyday cycling and keep them looking reasonable.

Yes I have touched them up with a bit of paint but it spoils the overall appearance of the bike and could be quite easily avoided with a bit of manufacturer forethought.

There now I feel better.
