Tandems on Spanish trains

Does anyone have experience of taking a tandem on a Spanish train? Specifically, I'm looking for information regarding the RENFE trains that run along the north coast enabling us to get a tandem back from Santiago de Compostela, via Santander and Bilbao to Irun on the French frontier.
I know that you can get solos on this route, but what about tandems? Do they have luggge vans long enough?

An alternative would be to take a more southerly route. In the past I have taken a solo on the line from Miranda del Ebro to Irun on a train that had a very large luggage van, but that was a few years ago. Do they still have these large vans?

Any information and reports of practical experience would be welcome.
