Arm/wrist support for stoker with CP

I have taken on the task of trying to devise an arm/wrist support for a teenage stoker with cerebral palsy and partial left side paralysis. He enjoys riding but as he cannot put any weight on his L hand or grip the bars can cause some instability on the tandem as all his upper body weight goes onto the right hand bar.
We are looking at providing an adjustable support for his forearm (which can bear some weight), and have a few ideas, but I am wondering if anybody else has ever devised anything along these lines that might give me a starting point.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
