Tandems on National Express East Anglian Trains

Posted By: Steve
Date: 11 June 2008

When the East Anglian rail services were provided by One Railways tandems were banned. Then National Express took over.

Their website didn't specifically mention tandems as One's had done so we e-mailed their Customer Services department. They eventually replied that tandems couldn't be carried. So, we e-mailed back with a picture of Tina the Tandem travelling on a Southern Trains service. We made the point that Southern carriages were the same as National Express carriages. Just had this e-mail ...!

"Mr Rowley

Thank you for your email.

We do accept Tandem cycles on National Express East Coast services, as with all cycles, a reservation must be made prior to travel however for tandems you must reserve two spaces, as space is limited for cycles on our services we advise customers to book as early in advance as possible.

Kind Regards

Hope this news is of use.
