If this has been covered before,, I cannot find it.
I know that tales abound regarding the following however; has anyone had hands on (foot on) experience of cycling with a left crank and pedal fitted to the right side, or, a left crank and pedal fitted to the right side. I want to fit a 155mm solo left crank to the right Captains position on a small framed tandem for the summer school holidays. I know that Highpath will convert (reverse) the pedal threads in addition to shortening a crank, in addition I could try and source a suitable crank however I will pursue the cheaper option first. I considered using a mild form of thread lock on the pedal and insist the tandem crew carry out a "halt inspection". What concerns me is the crew will be juniors and if the pedal is prone to work loose (being opposite thread) the crank could be damaged before the tandem crew notice what is going on and need to call out recovery.
