Easter Rally Routes: Please note the lane South of The Rowbarge Pub in Wollhampton is closed to traffic due to a large pot-hole. It is likely to remain closed for the duration of the rally but there is a gap between the barriers and the hedge wide enough for bikes to be walked through. The closed section is only about 15 yards.
Please note the Electric hook ups are all now sold. I am creating a waiting list in case any become available.
Furthermore There will be a charging station for E bike BAtteries, devices Ect that will be set up
Will the club house be open each evening, Vanessa? Hopefully Alnwick RUFC want to sell us refreshments.
Hi Ann, im not saying to much about our evening plans at this stage as yet, but as there are various thngs in progress, but just to say i hope you wont be disappointed
After checking 2 road closures, I have completed updating the TCE2024 rides. You may now download them again to get a consistent set. The Event Attendee Information page lists which routes have changed.
Janet and I will be bringing a selection of items from the Club Shop. Look for our white campervan ML06KNO
i have just added a printable list of cafes with their Easter opening times to the attendees information page. It also contains a table referencing cafes to routes.
Arrived on the Bishops Green campsite yesterday(Wednesday). Be aware that the ground at the campsite is very soft from all the rain. The very friendly farmer had to tow our campervan onto our grass pitch with his tractor. Those with campervans / motorhomes will more than likely be towed on by the tractor. If you can bring some ‘tyre grip mats’ or maybe a couple of suitably sized bits of marine ply to position under the wheels when parked up.

How is the weather there today? I checked and it was forecast to be very gusty, not ideal for setting up a tent! I'm pondering whether to arrive tomorrow after the worst of it, am I overthinking it?
I cycled to the campsite at 9:16 this morning, just before the heavy rain. It did not strike me as particularly windy when cycling. It did become gusty when the heavy rain came in though. So I think as long as you pitch during the sunny periods this afternoon/evening you should be OK.
The earlier crash on the A34 south bound around Newbury has now been cleared - Google shows traffic flowing normally again.
For various reasons, we plan on doing the shortest ride tomorrow (29 miles?). Is anyone else planning to follow that route?

Lancashire and Cumbria Group – September Ride from Great Eccleston
On a warm September morning we gathered in Great Eccleston Square for our Tandem Club ride. It was good to welcome four members who had not previously experienced the planned ride.
Five tandems and a solo set off to our coffee stop at Light Ash Cafe, Myerscough, just half an hour’s ride away. After coffee and chat we crossed the A6 at Bilsborrow, through Claughton-on-Brock towards Bleasedale. We turned left up the fells followed by a fast descent down to Oakenclough, then a climb up to the Grizedale and Barnacre reservoirs, from which water is supplied to Blackpool and the Fylde.
The panoramic view across to the coast was not so clear as the storm clouds were gathering our way. We then ascended Harrisend Fell, followed by a long descent into Scorton village for lunch.
After lunch we re-grouped at Daisy Clough Cafe for tea/coffee and cakes, just in the nick of time to shelter from a heavy downpour. After the storm had passed over, we set off on a relatively flat route to Stakepool. Then back on the roads crossing Pilling moss, to cross the Cartford toll bridge over the river Wyre and back to Great Eccleston.
A good day was had by all, who were so lucky to have kept dry.
Anne and John Hall
The ability to download all the rides, by a member, in a zip file will be available once the rides have been published here.
